Born of elven descent, in a small village north of Teldrassil, a daughter, to Lord Tarlin and Lady Aurieanna Mistnan. She resembled her mother so closely that they named her Brieanna Leigh.
She was a quiet child, though it eventually became apparent that she drew wisdom from those around her. That being said, Brieanna excelled in nearly everything she attempted. Her one vice was her silence. For in silence she would be seen observing those around her, ultimately learning from their words and actions.

Aurie, noticing Brie’s interest started to teach her alchemy trade, from herb gathering to the various combinations that worked well together. Brieanna enjoyed this craft of working with wonderfully fragrant and sometimes pungent plants and herbs. Even to this day, you can still find Brie running off to gather the flora as she progresses within this skill.
A lover of nature, coupled with her silence, Tarlin and Aurie often found their daughter alone, though the child never seemed to mind. On her next birthday they gifted her with Simbah, a regal cat indeed. Brieanna and Simbah became fast friends and were often seen running joyfully, yet with purpose, though the forests that encompassed their village. Occasionally, they were down by the lake, Brieanna using Simbah to rest her head on, watching the clouds pass by overhead. The two were inseparable.
Then it happened… and for Brieanna, her life would never be the same.
The sun was shining, though clouds threatened to darken this crisp autumn day. Brie was sitting beside the fire reading, while Simbah, sprawled out on the floor before her, slept quietly. Brie looked at her friend and smiled. Tarlin, yawning with outstretched arms, came into the room and announced that he had decided this day would be good for hunting. A fair distance away, another group, not so peaceful, had also decided this day would be good for hunting….elf hunting! Aurie, having had a dark feeling since awakening, pleaded with her husband to reconsider. With a comforting look, Tarlin turned to her and said, “Melamin, I know you have ill feelings shadowing this day, though you have nothing to fear for I shall not be away long.” She smiled up at him, the fear in her eyes piercing his soul like never before and replied, “Amin mela lle Tarlin, may Elune keep a watchful eye on your journey”.

Turning to hide her tears, she proceeded to gather items her husband would require. Brieanna, hearing of her fathers imminent departure, jumped up from her place by the fire, Simba close at her heels, hugged him and whispered a reminder for him to bring her back something shiny, he always did. He promised that he would return within 2 moonturns with supplies and Brie’s gift. Upon his mount, Tarlin waved at his two girls and was off.
The breezes of this day whispered something that Brie could not understand. Sitting in the shade of a nearby tree staring out into the distance, she calls to Simbah who is quickly by her side. Aurie calls out to them both, knowing immediately what this meant, Brieanna went to study her crafts and train with her cat so one day the would become the purrfect team. By days end she is tired….having learned much this day in order to please her parents. Hope upon hope that her deeds would bring a smile to her mothers face and eventually Tarlins, when he arrived home from his venture. |
Once at home, Aurie and Brie take a place in front of the fire after the evening meal. She lay her head in her mothers lap and listened to the stories being told her, which always brought pleasant dreams. Sleep is near as Brie starts to drift off. Noticing this, Aurie beckons her to go rest…for tomorrow is another day. Reluctantly, Brie gets up and slowly walks to her room, with Simbah close in tow.
Abruptly, Brie is awakened by the sound of someone crying. She gets up to find out what is happening. Sleepily walking into the next room she can see her mother holding an exquisitely crafted pouch, tears streaming down her face. Aurie didn’t notice her daughter enter the room and with a sad expression looked up at the village elders, Miri and Roswen.
Miri, who had seen the child, said in a soft voice, “Aurie, shall we tell Brie of this days events or will you?” Aurie remained silent for a moment, not certain of anything she was feeling…..her soul empty as she arose from her seat, leaving the room.
Tears glistening in her eyes, Brie listened intently to what the elders were telling her. She knows now that she will never see her father again. Simbah, sensing that something has gone awry, nudges at Brie’s hand. Turning, she wraps her arms around Simbah’s neck, and, sinking her face deep into his fur coat, cries with all her being. The cat shows no indication of leaving this girls side and continues to stand there without movement.
Aurie returns upon hearing her daughters cries. Looking at the elders, she tells them of her plans to venture out and avenge her husband. Looking at one another, shocked expression on their faces, Miri and Rosen ask, “Who will care for Brieanna in your absence?” Aurie points at Simbah, who is still standing next to Brie, he will take care of her. There is no doubt in my mind of this fact, silently knowing, in her heart, that she may never see her little girl again.
Turning to face her mother, Brie draws on all the strength she has, for she and her mother often shared same thoughts. Forcing a smile to her face, she nods at her mother as if to say, do what you must. Setting the pouch on the table beside her, Aurie takes Brie in her arms and whispers…..”Amin mela lle my daughter...do not forget.” Nodding, Brie looked at her mother once more before returning to her room as her mother prepared to depart and eventually leave.
Thus starts Brieanna’s adventure. She knows that she cannot stay behind and do nothing. Taking the leather pouch, her mother left behind, and a few other belongings, Brie leaves her house for the final time, vowing never to return until she has answers to her questions.
A sad and frightened girl, though strong in spirit and honor, on her way to becoming a true adventurer, here is Brieanna. |
